THE FUTURE OF FREETRADE | What Changes Are Happening On The Freetrade App ? 

 

So today ill be discussing the future of the freetrade App.

So if you are an investor who uses freetrade, or a a brand new investor who cant decided what platform to use this post will tell you all you need to know about what the future holds for the UK stock broker.

Note: Freetrade are constantly updating their roadmap so some of this data might be out of date when reading.

Recently Shipped

Freetrade's Recently shipped items are features and updates in the app that have just been released on the app here is a list of them

• Freetrade plus Beta to Plus for Life, eligible for crowdfunding investors
• Thousands of new UK and US Stocks
• New order experience
• Money-weighted rate of return a new way to measure portfolio performance
• Invest by freetrade
• Adding new US stocks to the Universe
• Fractional US shares

So there are the newly added updates that have recently updated within the freetrade app, so now we will take a deeper look and I will give more information on the updates

Freetrade plus Beta

The first update is for crowdfunding investors only basically crowdfunding investors are people who have invested money directly into the freetrade company, and that means they will be getting an early tester of the freetrade plus update which we will discuss later.

Thousands of new UK and US Stocks

Next we have thousands of new UK And US stocks, this one is pretty self explanatory.

for investors this is obviously a good thing as more stocks to choose from the better right?

New order experience

A new order experience when buying a stock, basically it will shows in a little more detail in your order such as the FX conversion rate, which for those who don't know is the foreign exchange basically if your buying a US Stock it shows what the Pound to dollar ratio is. and overall the new order confirmation looks a lot smoother and generally better looking.

Money-weighted rate of return

The new Money weighted of return is introducing more ways to measure your portfolios performance, the main objective of this update is the show you the performance of your portfolio measured against the impacts created such as when you deposit money in & also withdraw money Over certain it also includes any stock gains or falls.

So in simple terms this means that MWRR will be able to tell you what the return on your investments is by looking at when you invested and how much money you have invested overall.

Invest by freetrade

"Invest By Freetrade" was a recent update which brought many new features to the App such as:

• Instant Deposits - with this update you can now deposit money to you account instantly with apple pay and google pay, this is great as previously you would go through the process of depositing money and you would then have to wait 2-3 hours for the money to hit your freetrade account.
• A Smoother and faster App experience - This thanks to a reduced dependency on 3rd party apps on third party platforms, basically meaning freetrade have more control over the software.
• New Features - Thousands of new stocks and fractional shares for US Stocks, this update is great as fractional shares have finally arrived, meaning you can now invest money into the more expensive companies such as amazon, google & tesla without have to have thousands of pounds to purchase one share.
• Our Premium Account - which has since been rebranded freetrade plus we will talk about later in the Post!

Adding new US stocks to the Universe

Freetrade have also and are continuing to do so is adding new US stocks to the freetrade universe, which is brilliant the more US Stocks the better, having so many stocks to chose from with one of the largest countries in the world is always a great headache to have when picking stocks.

Fractional US Shares

A great update, fractional shares are basically owing a partial share meaning you invest in the likes of Tesla, amazon & Google who are over £1000 in price for a full share, you can own a portion for as little as £2 meaning your foot is in the door on these giant companies, 

WHAT ARE FREETRADE WORKING ON

The next segment i will be going over is some of the key features / updates freetrade are currently working on.

• Free Share 2.0 to make it easier for you to refer a friend
• More stocks including European stocks
• Stock Fundamental's 
• Time-weighted rate of return To give you more insight to the performance of your portfolio 
• Priortiy customer services (PLUS FEATURE)
• Introducing SIPPs
• Many more plus features
• Rolling out freetrade to Europe

The Freeshare 2.0 will be making it easier to refer a friend, freetrade haven't given much on this, as I thought personally it was already easy to refer a friend but it will be interesting to see what freetrade do with this in regards to making it easier.

More stocks including European stock

Freetrade again will be looking to release more stocks as well as including more European stocks! this is great news widening the range of markets you can get your teeth into giving you more investment opportunities.

Stock Fundamental's

Next is stock fundamentals this is an update I am keen on as currently freetrade gives you hardly any information on stocks, meaning I have to use other apps / websites to get my company information on, again freetrade aren't gibing much away with what this update will entail, but hopefully it will include things like PE Ratio, Earnings reports, Balance sheets more dividend information such as current dividend yield, when a stock goes into ex dividend, and also how much you should be expecting to receive.

Time-weighted rate of return

Time weighted return similar to the MWRR, but this figure will tell you the percentage gains in  your investments over a particular period of time, so the TWRR is calculated by breaking up the period of time in which you've been investing into small chunks so each time you deposit or withdraw it will mark the end of one period and the start of another.

The TWRR doesn't take into account deposits or withdrawal's, it will only show the gains / losses of an asset you own, not how much you've deposited in or taken out.

Priority customer services

The next feature which is freetrade plus exclusive is Priority customer service, meaning that users who have the plus service will be at the top of the list by the freetrade team when it comes to receiving answers on issues in the freetrade chat.

Currently you have to wait 2 hours or so for someone to reply to you but I'm now assuming if you are a freetrade plus user you will get seen much quicker than that.

Introducing SIPPs

Freetrade will also be rolling out SIPPs which stands for "Self invested personal pension"

within the freetrade app, basically meaning you are much more in control of your pension pot and what your hard earned money gets invested in to. this is also a good thing if you want all of your investments under one roof so to speak.

Rolling out freetrade to Europe

If you are a European country you are in luck freetrade is going over seas. countries such as Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain & Italy, a great move by freetrade expanding their business and brand abroad bringing in more custom.

THE FUTURE! WHAT ARE FREETRADE EXPLORING

This next segment is currently in discovery mode meaning that freetrade are exploring further enhanced updates gathering information and fully understanding the challenge before they try to implement these ideas in to the App, below is the list of the things freetrade are looking into.  

• Trading the biggest European Stocks & ETFs
• Buying and selling fractional shares of none US Shares
• Making it easier to identify good and bad investments
• Greater Insight to portfolio Performance
• Improved Share Price Data

Trading the biggest European stocks & ETFs

Great news again that freetrade are dipping into the European market now looking to add even more European stocks on the platform, but not just any stocks the biggest stocks and ETFs across Europe! another welcome update when the time comes.

Buying and selling fractional shares of none US Shares

This an update I have been anticipating! as freetrade released the fractional share update on the platform i was of course thrilled as now i could now afford to invest in the biggest companies in the world who are mainly US Stocks, i was left wondering what about Fractional shares for UK Stocks? now i know its in the planning i will be very much looking forward to its release.

Making it easier to identify a good or bad investment

A welcome update which will benefit all users especially people who are new to investing and are lacking confidence & knowledge knowing they are getting good quality information on stocks or ETF’s is even reassuring to me as an investor who has been a investing for a couple of years. 

Greater insight to portfolio performance

I think this is an enhanced version of the TWRR & MWRR possible showing you even more Information with regards to the time frame, again not much Information on this but I’ll be sure to update this post with the updates
