That you’ve seen thrown around a lot,

Especially in the modern day world we live in. 

So in today’s write up I will be going over

What a side hustle is, why side hustles are more important now than ever, the different types of side hustles and how they can 

Eventually Replace your 9-5 job.  

What Is A Side Hustle..

So a side hustle is form of work along side

A persons usual main 9-5 job.

Thr side hustle Job is usually a person passion rather unlike the JOB they hate but have to Attend to make ends meet. 

Typically side hustle jobs  are usually undertaken before or after your main 9-5 Job, for me personally I am able to perform work on my side hustles while I’m at my 9-5. Usually on my lunch hour.

Side hustles have some similarities to that of a part time job but the main differences are that when you work a part time job you are adding value for someone else, but with a side hustle that value is added for you! So your are now essentially a small business owner!

Also with a part time job you still only get paid for the Hours that your work (trading time for money) with a set pay for those hours, but with a side hustle how much you make is not always determined by your presence at certain hours. 

Okay let me explain...

Now I’m not saying your don’t have to put in any work with your side hustles, far from it. Side hustles need to be worked at very hard! Especially in those early days, But The beauty of a lot of side hustles is that in a lot of cases you tend to do the work first once and only once Then once that works is completed you will continue to get paid.

One example is that of a YouTube channel you only have to put the work in that one time to create a video, but once published it will continue to make you income. Over 

Of course you still have to keep the fire burning and create more videos but again the more you create the more your new and older content will be at views and the income will keep coming in.

Of course you have to meet the requirements to get YouTube monetization by reaching the 1000 subscriber threshold, and have accumulated 4000 watch hours of a 12 month period. Getting monetized isn’t easy,

But when reached is so rewarding. 

YouTube is more of a passive income type of side hustle, not all side hustles are as passive as YouTube. We’ll get into the different type of side hustles later.

I think what we have all learnt especially in these testing times we are all currently living through in the midst of the pandemic

which is affecting pretty much everyones life in one way or another. 

One of the main lessons through out all through out all of this is that nothing is guaranteed! Especially jobs. And that they can be taken away in an instance!

Generally speaking in the past before say 2010 side hustles were still generally revolved around the work you do in your 9-5 

For example and electrician doing work for a friend at the weekend and getting paid or if you clean cars for a living , cleaning your friends car earning that extra income. 

But over the last decade or so the internet has grown massively and therefore has created even more side hustle opportunities!

So back to the initial question why do you need a side hustle?

There are many different answers to this, all depending on your own personal circumstances.

1. Compensating the 9-5 - Some may need side hustles as their 9-5 job doesn’t pay them as much as they need to fund there lifestyle.
2. A Hobby - others may utilize side hustles as hobbies, using it something to do in spare time and more based around the fun aspect and aren’t to bothered 
3. Financial Freedom - other people start a side hustle with the goal to achieve financial freedom and use the additional money from there side hustles to fund there investments. Or alternatively they may not even invest! They might have enough side hustles or 1 big enough side hustles in that it can replace their 9-5 income. 
4. Rainy Day Fund - Money you receive from your side hustle as boring as it sounds could be simply put away safely bin case of emergencies such as job loss any problems in your home that need fixing , medical bills etc so having  this extra income saved could ease your mind for it any cash emergencies come up!

You can even combine different aspect of those 4 together!

Affiliate Marketing - The first hustle on the list is affiliate marketing, if your not sure what affiliate marketing is where you promote other peoples products and use your own special link to that product and if they buy a product through your link you will receive a certain % of commission from that sale.  You can promote the products on your social media pages , or crate and emails chain list, and even start a YouTube channel reviewing products leaving a link in the description or comments and if people like what they see they will buy said product and you will get that commission. 
2. YouTube ad revenue  - this form of side hustle is through ads being played on your YouTube video’s usually ads are before and after a video, although video’s 8 minutes or longer you can also place multiple ads in your videos which would earn you extra income, as I said above you need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours to first get your channel monetized. 
3. Blog ad revenue - much similar to YouTube ads you can also monetize a blog or website once you hit a certain threshold getting your blog monetized is slightly different to YouTube, on your blog views don’t really count when it comes to monetization, it’s More a case of your website looking the part and also having enough high quality content within your blog. 
4. Online merch store -  another great side hustle is creating online merch via your Own online store, this usually works better if you have your own online presence / branding so you could  create your merch and promote it to the audiences who follow you. And if they like what they see they may purchase from you, I use tee spring which is a simple and easy platform to use. 
5. Paid surveys - so this one may seem a little boring compared to the others but it’s probably the easiest on the list, paid surveys are where you answer questions either writing the answers down or making a video answer the latter I do on an app called Voxpopme where you Can make between 25p to £1 each time you answer the question they ask you, there are many different survey apps out there it’s just a case of finding the right one for you. This isn’t going to make you big money atall but it’s a start and an easy hustle to begin with.
